The Light They Walked Past
I opened doors that never stayed.
I sent kind words that slowly faded into nothing. I gave my heart to places where silence grew, and watched good intentions pass right through like they were never there at all. And for a long time, I didn’t really know what to do with that.
Because
the world has a way of telling men that feeling too much is a flaw. That softness is something to be managed or buried or at least hidden well enough that nobody notices. Carry stone, not tears. Be strong, not open. Don’t let them see how much you actually care.
But I was made with a heart that feels. And I’ve had to learn, slowly and sometimes painfully, that this is not a weakness. It’s something real. Something worth protecting.
Yes, I’ve been ghosted. Yes, I’ve stood alone wondering why the seeds I planted never seemed to grow. Wondering if there was something wrong with me for wanting connection that actually meant something.
There wasn’t. And if you’ve felt that way, there’s nothing wrong with you either.
I would rather be misunderstood for being kind than lose the parts of me that make me feel alive. The world may not always know what to do with someone who loves deeply and stays true. That’s okay. That’s not a reason to become someone else.
So if you’re tired, please hear this.
Don’t go cold. Don’t trade your heart for armor just because some people couldn’t handle the warmth. The right people won’t ask you to shrink or pretend. They’ll see your strength for what it actually is and they’ll call you friend.
Keep being you, even when it’s hard. Keep showing up with an open heart, even when it feels like no one is noticing.
Because the light that some people walk past today may be exactly what guides the right people to you someday.
And that is worth staying soft for.
Keep the light on.
